A bit of an update.
For the questions; I have Eco-Complete Substrate, 1 watt per gallon of 10,000K T5, I used to do 1mL of API 'Leaf Zone' per day (until algae hit), stocked with one subadult male Apistogramma sp. 'Steel Blue' (who is looking great might I add), 1 small male guppy (fry I accidentally put in there and couldn't catch out), 5 (soon to be 4 and then 3 and so on because they just keep dropping off in the same way as the one that died before it) neon tetras with the tank planted with one melon sword, one sword plant that is related to amazon sword but looks cooler (middle of the tank in the video) and a section of dwarf hairgrass all with water changes of 40% twice a week.
Now the to the questions:
1) No matter what I do I am getting frustrated with a smooth brown algae taking over! It is on the melon sword and in the hairgrass, on the glass and on the filter and heater. What am I doing wrong? I stopped using liquid ferts when I saw the algae first pop up (which was about a month or 2 ago) yet the algae continues to grow furiously. What am I doing wrong here?
2) The tank will soon have no schooling fish because of a dodgy supplier but I will probably get some more neons from a different source but what are some good, small fish that are suitable for the top of the tank? There are no hoods/covers or anything so I can't have any jumpers for it...
Ah, that's it for now. I hope my long winded post hasn't put you off haha
